The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.'s Financial Operations Directorate oversees contract closeout activities for the Frederick National Lab for Cancer Research (FNLCR), sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). We currently seek a Contract Closeout Specialist to join the Closeout team at our Frederick, MD location.


KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review expired contracts to determine closeout suitability based on FAR, customer or contract requirements
  • Perform Contract Closeout function which includes:
    • Ensuring proper reconciliations of all contract data
    • Collaborate with business operations, contracts, accounting, and other relevant groups to ensure all data is properly analyzed and reconciled
    • Reliance on historical/legacy data that requires further research
    • Complete indirect cost variance analysis in closing out contracts covering multiple fiscal years
    • Build contract value and funding logs that reconcile with customer awarded values
    • Respond to funding de-obligation requests received by the customer at various times throughout the year, especially at government fiscal year end
    • Effectively communicate with government agencies or prime customers to provide status reports during all phases of the contract closeout
    • Ensure company's contract closeout process and checklists are appropriately completed in accordance with the policy
    • Self-starter able to manage tasks with little supervision

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in Business, Accounting, or Finance or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • No experience required beyond education requirement
  • This position requires a strong financial/accounting background with a deep understanding of contracts, contract types, funding requirements and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of federal government contracting rules and regulations; specifically contract closeout procedures in accordance with FAR 4.804
  • MS Office proficiency
  • CostPoint & COGNOS Reporting business applications experience a plus
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
