We have a current opportunity for a Spacecraft Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This role uses a digital and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach to design, develop, integrate, and test end-to-end spacecraft systems and payloads through their entire life cycle. Support the development of Digital Engineering and MBSE processes and procedures as applied to space systems and missions. Work with our business development team to attract new customers and respond to government and industry solicitations.

We have a current opportunity for a Spacecraft Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This role uses a digital and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach to design, develop, integrate, and test end-to-end spacecraft systems and payloads through their entire life cycle. Support the development of Digital Engineering and MBSE processes and procedures as applied to space systems and missions. Work with our business development team to attract new customers and respond to government and industry solicitations.
Responsibilities
- Promote and leverage Digital Engineering and MBSE tools to support the full systems engineering lifecycle.
- Develop models and simulations in support of digital engineering capability demonstrations, space product concept development, and system design and evaluation.
- Generate mission and system requirements specifications, and verification and validation plans.
- Work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
- Design interfaces and perform system integration.
- Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
- Participate in system conceptual design and modeling/documentation of design concepts.
- Review test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participate in the testing process to validate requirements.
- Provide and present material for technical reviews and proposals.
- Work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.
Ideal Experience
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or other space-related discipline.
- Minimum of 2+ years' experience in the aerospace industry in an engineering role related to space system development, integration and test, and/or operations.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler (or related Dassault MBSE tools) or other comparable MBSE tool
- Knowledge of systems engineering including an understanding of space vehicle design, space system architecture development, and space missions and operations development.
- Attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated in applying engineering principles, concepts, and practices of systems engineering to independently perform assignments.
- Ability to travel - an average of 10-15% travel may be required.
- Must have US Citizenship with ability to obtain a DoD clearance
Desired Skills
- Current or active DoD TS/SCI Clearance
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or other space-related discipline
- INCOSE ASEP or other Systems Engineering Certification
- Experience with Jama or DOORS requirements management tool
- Experience with Ansys tools such as STK, Model Center, Workbench
- Python scripting
